My name is Alexis Ahrens, and I care a lot about how kids experience school. I’ve taught in mostly progressive (and some sadly regressive) public classrooms on and off since 1993. I currently have the immense pleasure of teaching 5th grade to the same group of children I’ve taught since 3rd grade. We’ll ride this happy wave together until 8th grade graduation in 2020.
Following the children through their grade school years is unique to Waldorf education, and I’m lucky enough to be a public Waldorf teacher in a charter school I helped found six year ago. I love my work and find it a huge source of happiness in my life.
I hope the experiences I share here will inspire and support your progress toward having your own happy classroom.
